Status refers to several factors:
- custody: the degree to which a piece of durable equipment is considered "owned" but the current custodian
- Examples:
- "I don't want this; please take it"
- "I'm not using this now, but would like it back when you're done"
- "You may keep this for as long as you like, but please return it to me when you no longer want to keep it yourself."
- "You may pass this along when you're done with it, but please wait for my permission before doign so."
- Examples:
- condition: Is the item working properly? If not, what's wrong with it? Is it in aesthetically good shape? Is it delicate? When was it last used/tested?
- access: Is it easy to get your hands on it? (this may apply more to locations than items)
